Gallegos Sanitation Inc. Kicks October with Think Pink Program, Offers Pink Services to Promote Cancer Awareness

Gallegos Sanitation Inc. (GSI) is kicking off October with its Think Pink Program, a program that literally provides pink services to customers who want to show their support for cancer awareness. The Think Pink Program includes bright pink 35-, 65- and 95-gallon trash carts, pink roll-off containers and pink portable toilets.

“About 1 in 7 women in Colorado will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. We wanted to create a program that would support local organizations and reduce the personal impacts on real people in our community,” said Kari Gallegos-Doering, Special Projects Coordinator for GSI. “Through our Think Pink Program, we hope raise awareness while raising money and we want to encourage our residential customers to trade in their teal carts for pink carts to show their support!”

Twenty dollars of the program’s initial fee benefits the customer’s choice of one of two local organizations: Hope Lives! The Lydia Dody Breast Cancer Support Center or UCHealth Cancer Center.

Lydia Dody, a breast cancer survivor, offers women in Northern Colorado complete post-diagnosis support and care through her organization: Hope Lives! The Lydia Dody Breast Cancer Support Center. Dody’s mission is to offer support and strength to breast cancer fighters by providing Care, Guidance & Education. For more information visit http://www.hopelives.org/.

The UCHealth Cancer Center supports patients in every aspect of their care, including helping them navigate the financial hurdles that accompany their diagnosis. The Oncology Patient and Family Support Fund, administered by the PVH and MCR Foundation, supports cancer patients to cover treatment expenses and resources to return to normal life. “Together, we can make a difference in our community. Let’s all Think Pink and Trash Cancer together,” said Gallegos-Doering.
